Orange San Diego is a new type of phone, running on Android 2.3, but with a very unique characteristic: the Intel processor. It has a 16 GB storage space and an 8 MP camera. Intel wanted to build a modest phone and they did way more than that. Even if the battery life isn't too good, the other features make from Orange San Diego a top class Smartphone. It runs Android Gingerbread very smoothly with its single core 1,6 GHz Intel Atom processor.

The market wasn't attracted by this model until they saw what the heart of the device is and the logo on the back: "Intel inside". I can say that the phone didn't disappoint me. I expected a medium-range phone and I got a device that outperforms many models from its type.

The Orange San Diego mobile phone is the first Smartphone to have an Intel processor. Maybe it’s not the fastest, slimmest, or the cheapest Smartphone, but Intel is inside. And it’s not even the first phone to have an Intel chip, it’s the Lenovo K800. But it’s the first Intel handset to reach Europe. As far as the specifications are concerned, it challenges the slightly expensive Nokia Lumia 800, and the Sony Xperia P.

The new San Diego handset resembles 2 other famous Smartphones, the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S2. The metallic colored plastic strip that runs around the edge has the similarity with the iPhone 4S. And the actual handset looks very similar with the Samsung Galaxy S2. I guess the “cons” for this device would be very small range of compatible applications, doesn’t have an external MicroSD slot, and the camera key is hard to press. It’s available on PAYG at £169.99. The new San Diego handset runs on a single core 1.6 GHz Atom Z2460 Medfield processor, 4.03-inch display with 600 x 1024 screen resolution, and 16 GB RAM.
