I have been using Oracle for my business for quite some time now. Even though I am not an expert, everything was running smoothly until I started getting the error ora 15041 diskgroup data space exhausted. When I checked I found that the diskgroup did have some free space. Is there a workaround for this error?
Yes. An ora 15041 diskgroup data space exhausted can occur even if the system shows that the diskgroup has some free space. There are several reason as to why this happens. However, the basic reason for this error is simple. The occurrence of this error means that you have exhausted the diskspace.
In case the system is showing some free space in the diskspace, the first thing to do is to check if any rebalancing process is running. If this is the case, then allow the process to complete first.
If this is not the case, then the diskspace might be short of memory even if the complete disk has memory left. This can be solved by manually re-balancing the diskspace.
