The Optoelectronic processor is an advancement over the normal processors. It is a combination of Physics and Design. An Optoelectronic processor uses light to move data. This processor decreases the power consumption drastically. It can be built without making any changes to the present semiconductor manufacturing process. The only drawback of this is that the transistor manufacturing process requires free electrons. However, free electrons tend to absorb light thus, limiting the optical transmission.
