Yes. It is true that the former employees of Nokia will launch the latest MeeGo Smartphones to the market. This Smartphone runs the MeeGo OS. Marc Drillon, the past chief operating officer designed the Jolla company. He is the chief engineer of Nokia's Meego/Mameo since 2006.

Jolla company will structured, design, improve and sell the MeeGo Smartphones. This company consists of some former Nokia/Meego/Maemo engineers together with the brilliant minds from the Meego/Mameo community. Marc Dillon stated that Nokia made something brilliant which is the world's best Smartphone product. And that this Smartphone should be sustained and they will accomplish it with the help of all the bright and genius people adding success on the MeeGo's success. Unfortunately, MeeGo has gone for good. It is a Linux distribution hosted by the Linux Foundation. Its source code is a combination of the two operating systems: Maemo, developed by Nokia and Moblin, developed by Intel. It is mainly designed for mobile devices and information appliances in the consumer electronics market.

It is basically intended to act as an operating system for hardware platforms like entry-level desktop computers, netbooks, tablets, nettops, communications and mobile computing devices, in-vehicle infotainment devices, Smartphones, and other embedded systems. MeeGo was discontinued in September 2011 by the Linux Foundation in favor of Tizen. Jolla, a Finnish start-up, picked-up Mer, MeeGo’s community-driven successor, to develop a new operating system called “Sailfish OS”.

At the end of 2013, they launched the Jolla Phone Smartphone. The entire development of MeeGo including its supporting hardware had stopped.
