The new hard drives for Media PCs launched by the Hitachi Company is 2.5 inches wide ,7mm tall ,and silent as whisper could this CinemaStar hard drive read the pirated cd and dvd?

Hi Andrew, my answer to your question would be Yes. This is because the hard drives have not yet been created with that capability of detecting pirated data!However, the cds or dvds with badly written data cannot be read or played by the drives.

The data therefore  needs to be properly written. ?It will read and play well with good settings

This is because your hard drives haven't but been recently made up of that will capacity for revealing fake data! However, your Compact discs as well as Dvd videos having terribly written data are not going through as well as played by the devices.

Hitachi GST or Hitachi Global Storage Technologies back in 2011 announced that they added two new drive series to their consumer electronic optimized hard drives designed for IPTV set-top-box (STB), DVR or digital video recorder, video surveillance, and the emerging hard drive-embedded TVs. The new drives series include the 3.5-inch CinemaStar 5K2000 family and the 2.5-inch CinemaStar C5K750 family.

The 5K2000 series offers 2 TB and 1.5 TB capacities while the C5K750 series brings 500 GB, 640 GB, and 750 GB capacities. Each series came from a long legacy of low power, barely audible, and reliable line of hard drives specifically fine-tuned and optimized for the audio/video market.

Hitachi GST remains focused on advanced developments of its CinemaStar drives with established features such as A/V streaming performance enhancements, SmoothStream Technology, Coolspin Technology, HiVERT Technology for better power efficiency, and environmental optimization. These two lines of hard drives are plain data storage devices. They don’t support the function of recognizing CDs or DVDs whether if they are pirated or not. They only store data but not read optical discs.

This function or the function of reading CDs or DVDs is done by optical drives like CD-ROMs, CD writer, DVD-ROM, and DVD writer.
