I need help in burning Windows Vista OS on a CD. I have used a number of blank CDs already to burn it but when I try to install it says "_ _ _ _start boot from CD". What am I doing wrong? I already used application such as Nero but to no avail. Please help!

I'm not sure if you're doing it right but are you burning it into ISO? This way it will boot your OS just fine. I believe you can still use Nero to burn it on ISO.

Jayheyhey,

Did you download your OS file in ISO format? If yes, you can use Magic Disk or Daemon tools lite to mount the ISO file then open Nero and look for the option COPY CD, set the following options to:

SOURCE: drive where your ISO file is mounted

DESTINATION: drive where the blank CD is

Just make sure that the OS you downloaded is bootable so it will work.

Can you check the .ISO file you downloaded? Right click then open with Nero Burning ROM click OK then 8X then OK.

I already have ISO but it is still the same, can you provide me screenshots on how I could mount ISO on the Daemon tool?

Just so you won't get confused, the ISO file that you downloaded is on a ZIP file, right? The OS is inside and you need the Daemon tool to open it and that's the only time that you can burn it. Since you see to have missed out on this step, you may have been burning ISO file itself that's why it doesn't allow you to boot up.

Thanks Phil 411, qbpro and gleelover! I was able to finally burn it right. It recognized the OS this time. Thanks again.

Whatever CD or DVD burning device and software you are using, if you were just burning the contents of your Windows Vista operating system installation disk your burned copy won’t work because Microsoft Windows Vista Installation requires bootable disk where the installation file is located.

There are two ways to burn your Windows Vista operating system installation disk but they are both the same. Creating an ISO file is making a duplicate or a copy of your disk that is in the form of ISO which is to be saving on your hard disk drive and then later on burning the ISO file on a CD or DVD will create the original copy of your disk. You can also burn your CD or DVD by copying it directly using your CD or DVD burning tool or software (Copy entire disk option). The here is to duplicate or copy the entire disk so that even the boot sector of the disk may copied.
