Need Advice on How to Clean Up Infected PC

I encountered a pop-up window informing me that my computer was infected and it would “help” in removing the malware.  I rushed to download it without thinking twice.  I now regret this as I ended up having a severely infected PC with spyware.  What is the best way to remove the spyware without having to reformat my PC?And how do I avoid this in the future?What anti-spyware would you recommend?Thanks

Need Advice on How to Clean Up Infected PC

The best way to remove the spyware that you installed on your PC without having to format it will be to use the system restore utility as follows:

• On your computer, click on start.
• In the search box, type in there 'System Restore',
• And then press Enter on your keyboard.
• System restore window will open.
• Click Next, and then set the restore point in the next window that will open.
• Click Next and then click OK to start the restore process.

You have to make sure that you have set the computer to restore to a time before it became infected with malware for the process to be effective.
