News of new internet neighborhoods has reached the public, with domain names to not be limited as dot com's and dot net's, will this mean that domains can now be customized based on company names and brands?

Meganwharding, that's a good question you have asked right there! In this case, it may not yet be possible that the domain names can be customized based on a company's name or brands but according to the ICANN, they decided the domain names need to be customized but still just for particular countries.

Such as if in the UK there is '.UK' or '.CA' for Canada. It is a new revolution indeed, but it will still need to go through approval. It was formed for the main purpose of resolving conflicts that arise from domain names being similar enough with each other.

They still haven't yet changed as much but however the fee that is charged currently is quite higher for registration according to ICANN's guidelines. However, later on, it is going to be possible for people to rename the domains even after company names or brand names.
