My Optical Mouse wont work

Good morning guys!

I bought an optical mouse the other day and it seem to be working well for the past days.

This morning, I went to my computer to work on something and guess what, the mouse cursor wont move anymore.

I tried to place a mouse pad and a book in case it will move, but it still wont work.

The light is still there so I assume that it should be working as well as before.

What could be the cause of this problem?

Usually, when the optical mouse stops moving or not  working at all, it is due to sloppy or unsecured connections or it’s connected to the wrong port. So here are some suggestions you might want to try:

  • Try unplugging the USB cable and then plugging it back again, if it doesn’t work then try plugging it into another hub. You might also try restarting your PC just in case

  • See if the mouse works on another PC.If it works well on another PC then there must a problem with the computer port

  • Make sure the mouse is completely plugged in into your computer. You can try to check the Device Manager in your computer: Control Panel > Device Manager > Mouse. You could go see the “Hardware” tab that will tell you if there are any problems with your mouse and some troubleshooting options

  • You can also run usbview.exe; USBview detects any device attached to the computer even if the drivers are not loaded. If the USBview can identify your mouse, then you must have a driver/adapter problem
