Hi there,

I have a  Compaq Presario CQ3000 Series Desktop PC and Yesterday my mouse won't click but the cursor is moving well when the mouse is moved, the mouse clicks okay but the command is not executed on my computer, I borrowed my friend's wired mouse and the same problem persists, I have restarted the computer, reinstalled windows 8.1, updated mouse drivers but still stuck, what could be causing this problem and how can I solve it?

Hi !

Make an uninstall to your USB mass storage from Device Manager and install the last version of drivers but make sure that they are compatible with Windows 8.1. When you are uninstalling the USB Mass Storage make sure that all your devices USB are plugged out and also when you are making the install. Plug-in all your USB devices and they will make a new clean install. When you are making an update to your drivers make sure that they are compatible with your OS.

To uninstall USB Mass Storage for Device Manager, type Device Manager in start menu. Search Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

Also you can run a troubleshooting of your Mouse device. To access the troubleshoot go to Control Panel => Mouse => Mouse Properties => Click on Hardware Tab => Click Troubleshoot button. Follow the steps in the new window that will appear. Also click the Properties button and check if the mouse have the proper settings.

Follow the pictures below to see how you can make an uninstall of USB Mass Storage and run a troubleshoot of your mouse:
