McIntosh HD software update problem

What is preventing my McIntosh HD laptop software from updating? I have been trying to update software on my McIntosh HD, but the update always fails while the system network connection is working properly. I have used the repair disk permission, but the problem won’t stop. What is left for me to do after the repair disk permission?

Hi, Jimmy!

As you tried to take the steps until using Repair Disc Utility, here is what I suggest:

Remove any leftovers and traces of past update attempts by opening the System, look into Library , CoreServices, find Firmware Updates directory and move any items in this folder to the desktop. Then try downloading the latest updates manually from the Apple Support Downloads page and run it.

As a last hope, you can try installing the firmware update from a fresh OS installation. In order to attach an external hard drive and reboot the system use Command: R- Hold it down to load the recovery drive. Further, install a new copy of OS X to the drive. With this you will reset software environment in which you can try applying the firmware update. After the it has been installed, open the Startup Disk system preferences and select your main boot drive again.

Regards,

Mathew
