McAfee Anti Virus – Windows 7

It’s been three weeks since I followed a McAfee recommendation to reboot so that it can remove the Trojans it detected. It keeps requesting a reboot because it always detects the Trojans named “Zero Access” and 2 versions of Generic, one of which is named Generic.dx!b2qj.

I thought this was caused by Adobe software that I illegally downloaded so I restored my computer to a date before that download.  The reboot requests stopped but so did McAfee firewall and Windows Security Center. My McAfee Firewall is off yet the settings appear to be okay.

All my attempts to turn it on have failed. On the other hand, correcting settings for Windows Firewall results to an error window. If it is any help, I am using Windows 7 with Service Pack 1. I also attached pictures of the error messages.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Dear User,

I would recommend you to reinstall your operating system if possible. And that would be a great solution considering your scenario.

But however you can also try to enable your firewall, try these,

Go to start Menu, in the search box type “services”

Right click the services shown in the start menu and select run as Administrator

Check if the below services got the mentioned status and startup type

Windows Firewall Started Automatic/’Manual

Base Filtering Engine Started Automatic/Manual

Windows Firewall Authorization Driver Started Automatic/Manual

Also check the Dependency Services to run

Hope this solves your problem. If not. Try disabling your mcafee and try again. If possible remove mcafee and reinstall using another version

Thank you
