Macromedia Dreamweaver MX has denied access

I am a website developer and I have installed various applications in my laptop.

Recently I installed the Dreamweaver MX application to use for my templates platforms and design work for various assignments.

There is an error that popped up when I was using the templates and it restricted me from using Dreamweaver and hence access of it.

What could be the problem?

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX:

Dreamweaver is unable to rename the template. Access was denied.

Problem

At all the times you are working with the Dreamweaver, you must take note of the names of the slides that you are working on. In many cases, one would not be able to differentiate the slides and go ahead to rename different slides with similar names.

If you try to give a new slide a name that is already in use by another slide, then the error will occur.

This will deny you the access.

Solutions

1. Ensure that no slide is already using the name. Then proceed to give your slide the name you want.

If that does not work, then do the following which will solve the issue:

2. Renaming the templates.

a) Rename the slide which is already using the name and then go ahead to give your slide the new name.

b) On the other hand, you can try giving your slide a different name altogether.

Hello JoseT,

First thing that I will ask you to check is to ensure that you are logged onto the computer as the administrator, otherwise you may be logged in with a guest account that offers you limited capabilities when it comes editing and modifying the templates. Also check to ensure that you are saving the template with the right extension which should be the .dwt format.

Otherwise, I will advice that you get the latest version of Dreamweaver which is adobe Dreamweaver cs5 which offers a lot of features and capabilities that you will like and it does not have bugs as the ones you will experience while using Dreamweaver MX which is quite an older version.
