Hey Heaven regis!

The default way to view the hidden files and folder is simple. Open My computer, click on Organize button and select Folder and Search Option. It will open Folder option. Click on Vie tab and check the "Show hidden files and folder" option. After that you must be able to see hidden files and folder.

If you are still unable to see them then there must be some virus in your windows that has disabled this option from windows registry.

In this case you have to follow these steps:

1. Click on start button, in Run box, type cmd and hit enter.

2. It will open Command Prompt. Type here regsvr32 /i browseui.dll and hit enter. Let it complete the process.

3. Once it done, now again type regsvr32 /i shell32.dll and hit enter.

4. Once the process is complete, close the Command Prompt and you will be able to see your hidden files and folders.

Thanks

I’m quite confused on your question. I’m not sure if you can no longer access the hidden files but you can still see them on the folder or you can no longer locate them because you totally forgotten where they are stored. If you still have an idea where they supposed to be located, you can enable viewing of hidden files from the Windows Explorer. Depending on the operating system you are running, try adapting this procedure done in Windows XP:

  • Open Windows Explorer then click Tools, Folder Options. This is also accessible via the Control Panel.
  • Select View tab.
  • Under Advanced settings, find Hidden files and folders section then select or enable “Show hidden files and folders”.
  • Click OK.

You can now see hidden files on your hard drive using Windows Explorer. If you still can’t find them, you can do a search on your hard drive for any hidden files. Depending on your operating system, try adapting this procedure done in Windows XP:

  • Click Start then Search.
  • On the left pane, select All files and folders.
  • Under All or part of the file name, type the filename.
  • Click More advanced options then check the boxes Search hidden files and folders and Search subfolders.
  • Click Search. See if the file you are looking for appears in the search results.
