Does anybody here have any idea on which Linux distribution is best suited for a server that is mainly used as a webserver using light HTTPD software?  I am new to Linux OS and would appreciate some insights.  Thanks.

Linux Webserver Using Light HTTPD Software

The best Linux distributions that will support a server that is suited mainly to used as a webserver using light HTTPD software as the following:

  • Redhat
  • Fedora

Those will work best if you are using RPM based distro. The light HTTPD webserver has been to be secure, fast, standards-compliant, and also  flexible, all which are attributes that you will be glad to go for. It has also been optimized  to work in speed-critical environments. It has a low memory footprint when you compare it to other web servers, has light CPU load and you will notice that the speed goals make lighttpd suitable especially for the servers that are suffering load problems.
