Linux software Samsung USB modem

Hello Friends, I am using Linux System and would like to connect internet through my Samsung Android phone (as USB modem). My Linux OS is Linux Kernel 3.8.4 and the phone model is Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, Please advice on how to connect Linux software Samsung USB modem, in order to have the internet connection. Thanks

Linux software Samsung USB modem

Hello Noah Jessie,

Samsung Kies software is required to connect your Galaxy device with PC. Unfortunately this software is not supported by Linux, visit site to check the system requirements. It is available only for Windows and Mac OS (10.5 or Higher). However, if you want to use your Galaxy Ace as an USB modem you must have Windows or  Mac OS on your laptop, notebook or PC. You can always download the driver from here.

Linux software Samsung USB modem

Hello! Noah, Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 can be connected to your Computer through two different ways:

1. You can connect it through Samsung Kies Software which is default Software by Samsung to connecting the Phone.

2. You can connect through bluetooth but for this you need a bluetooth hardware device.

So, by these two ways you can easily connect your phone to computer. I hope you will get your answer.
