Hello all,

I am not having sufficient knowledge about Microsoft outlook but I want to what is microsoft exchange server for outlook 2007. Can someone explain what is the use of this service?

Microsoft Exchange Server is basicallya mail server which is developed by Microsoft. Earlier, it was available for Microsoft internally, but then it became available as an external server with the release of Exchange Server 4.0.

Exchange Server initially used the directory X.400 service but then it switched to Active Directory. Versions 5.0 and 4.0 came bundled along with an email client which was called Microsoft Exchange Client. It was then discontinued in favor of the Microsoft Outlook.

Exchange uses a protocol called MAPI. However,over time, it added support for SMTP, POP3, EAS,  and IMAP.
