Hello,

I was using iTunes on my phone when this error suddenly popped up on the screen. It says itunes restore error 2001.

If anyone knows the solution, please share a suggestion to fix the issue.

Well, I had the exactly same problem.

I solved this problem by manually restarting my phone several times and then, it finally restored.

Also, I made sure that I had the latest version of iTunes and also of Quicktime. I then restarted my iMac as well.

If you receive error code “2001” when updating or restoring your phone with iTunes, you need to check the following:

• USB connection
• USB cable
• USB port
• Computer

But first, since you are using iTunes when you triggered the error, you need to make sure that iTunes is updated to the latest version. The full error reads:

The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2001)

Download iTunes and install. Once you’ve updated the program, try updating or restoring again. If this doesn’t work, disconnect the USB cable from the USB port then connect it to a different port. Use all available USB ports to troubleshoot. If this doesn’t work, try using a different USB cable.
