The process of port binding is of great use in iSCSI whenever multiple ports of VMkernel for an iSCSI stay in the same broadcast domain and IP subnet to permit more than one paths to an iSCSI array which projects a single IP address. When you use port binding, you must keep in mind that:

  • Array Target iSCSI ports should reside in the same broadcast domain as the VMkernel port.
  • All VMkernel ports in use for iSCSI connectivity should stay in the same IP subnet.
