I want to change the Dell Inspiron 1200 battery since it is dead. I don’t know the procedure to open it; please help me as I have not tried to open it, I may break the parts.

Turn your laptop upside down and then you may notice the two pins. This is the lock button which you have to open it. You can do so by sliding one pin to left and other to right and push it from the back to open it. Then you can keep it open for sometime and then you can replace the battery or put it once again, just by pushing outwards.
