Hi there, anyone could encounter errors wherever a software is upgraded. Since you have trouble in upgrading the iTunes, you may wish to save the setup file named iTunes64setup.exe or iTunesSetup.exe installer file to your hard drive. You can find the link at here

https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Download and install the free trial version of Win RAR:

https://www.rarlab.com/

To install the iTune, please click right the iTunes64Setup.exe or iTunesSetup.exe. Next step is to click ‘Extract to iTunes64Setup’.  Win RAR is used to expand the contents of that setup file.

And you will find the expand contents in a folder named ‘iTunes64Setup’. Then you will find AppleApplicationSupport.msi and click twice to start the installation of a standalone AAS. The installation shall be started correctly.

Please let us know if you have any further error. Hope the above could help.

One thing that I know is that for iTunes to work on your computer you should have QuickTime already installed, and therefore if you had not installed QuickTime you will need to install it. But some versions of iTunes come with QuickTime as one of the components, which during the installation iTunes will prompt you to install it.

In case the upgrade is having problems, I will advise that you do the following:

  • Instead of upgrading the software directly from the old version, uninstall the old version.
  • Once done that, get the new version of iTunes and install it.
  • In case it asks you to install QuickTime comply.

Or you may choose to install QuickTime after uninstalling the old version of iTunes before you install the new version.

The error doesn’t literally means that you need to install Apple Application Support because there is no such thing as Apple Application Support. It doesn’t exist. What it means is that the version you used to install iTunes may have already been damaged that’s why after the installation and running the program, it didn’t find the component it required.

The next thing you should do is to reinstall iTunes to restore the default files. But since you are only using the version 9, reinstalling it would be a bad idea because you’ll only be installing an obsolete version. The latest version I know is already version 11. To download the latest version, visit Download iTunes 11.1.

This version supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 and later, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. If you are using 64-bit Microsoft Windows, you also need to use the 64-bit version of iTunes. To download iTunes 11.1 64-bit, visit iTunes 11.1 for Windows [64-bit]. Download this version in a folder and then uninstall iTunes from your computer.

Restart your computer. After booting, open Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:Program Files”. Delete the iTunes folder if it wasn’t removed during the uninstallation. After that install the latest version you just downloaded and then try it again.

Hi,

Here is how you can fix the problem with installation.

1.   Download the iTunesSetup.exe. if your system runs on a 64 bit download iTunesSetup64.exe.

2.   Extract.

3.   Open the folder iTunesSetup.

4.   Double click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and choose repair.

Hope this information solves the problem.

I have an easiest and a better solution. Firstly, you have to uninstall iTunes. Then you will re-install the iTunes but you have to run it as Administrator. You will do that with right click, and choose the ''Run as Administrator'' option. I think that this would easily solve your problem.
