I used Windows XP for a long time but my brother preferred to change it on Windows Vista. I am not that fan of Vista because I found it hard and little keen on its desktop theme. Vista's desktop theme with its new windows start button is not that good, i am getting hard and rid of it. So, I wanted to try and download Windows XP theme.

Is it possible that I will use XP them in Vista. Is XP theme will work at vista? Can someone please help me to find a XP theme to download as replacement of Vista theme.

Many people are exited to have a copy of windows vista when it was first release in the market. Some bought a new computer with Vista running as its operating system. But when they started to use it, they find the interface of vista uncomfortable to use, plus the “buggy” thing that makes it a standout Windows Operating System in a negative way. But you can’t do anything because you already pay for that operating system, for at least, in some way your are thinking to get your old XP back again, even if its just the appearance and you’ll end up deceiving your own self. Well…

If you are not happy with windows Vista look you can transform it into XP style. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Right click on your Windows Vista desktop.
  2. Click on Personalize option.
  3. Double click the “Theme” and select “Windows Classic”
  4. Change the background using the “Desktop Background” option.
  5. To change the Vista mouse pointer , select “Mouse Pointer” option and remove the effects of the mouse pointer.
  6. For the “My Computer”, “My Documents” etc. desktop icons from Windows XP, on the top most left of the Personalize window, click “Change Desktop Icons”. It will show the XP desktop icons.
  7. To change the Vista start menu to XP, right click the start and select the properties. Select “Start Menu” tab and click the option button.
  8. Click “Customize” to modify icon sizes, show up the “Recent Documents” and Run command.
  9. To get rid of Windows Aero, select desktop properties and select “Windows Color and Appearance” select color and enable transparency.
  10. Disable the User Account Control (UAC) that’s keep popping when it needs administrator permission. Type UAC on search and click the “Turn the User Account Control (UAC) on or off. Uncheck the box and click ok button.

If you don’t want to do it manually in a step by step procedure in transforming the looks of Vista to XP, you can use third party application like Windows Blinds, it is a software utility that can change the look of your vista to any other windows interface. You can also use TuneUP utilities, it has a customization option that lets you apply other themes and you can also use this to optimize the performance of your computer.

If you want to have the original Vista Back again:

  1. Right click on the start button and select properties.
  2. Select the “Start Menu” tab, click the option button on the “Start Menu”
  3. Click the “Customize” button and select “Use Default Settings” button. It will restore your start menu modifications to original start menu. Click Ok.
  4. Click “Apply”
  5. To remove Windows XP “Start” button, right click the desktop and select “Personalize”. Double click the “Theme” and choose “Windows Vista”. Click Apply and your Vista is back again.
