I upgraded to Windows 10 from a previous version, but Windows Defender is not working. I am unable to turn it on as I am facing the 80070426 error. I have no clue how to get rid of the error. Please help.

Is There Any Way Of Getting Rid Of The 80070426 Error?

The 80070426 error occurs when the Microsoft Security Essentials is still there on Windows 10. By uninstalling it, your error can be solved.

Method 1

a. Press Windows + R.
b. Type taskmgr and press enter.

c. Right-click on WinDefend and click on End task.
d. Close the Window.
e. Press Windows + R.
f. Type appwiz.cpl and press enter.
g. Click on Microsoft Security Essentials.
h. Click on Uninstall.
i. Restart your device.
j. Go to Settings.
k. Open Windows Defender.
l. Make sure real-time protection is on.
