A lot of viruses come in the form of executable files, many with the same names as popular genuine executable files. Recently I came across a weird looking file, well, the name of the file was weird. The file is called g2mdlhlpx. Is this a virus or just some genuine executable?

Is G2mdlhlpx A Virus Or Normal File

Most viruses are hidden in the form of executable files. To hide them from anti-virus programs and users, the files are mostly named after files that are commonly used by legitimate programs on your computer.

The g2mdlhlpx.exe file is originally part of the Citrix GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar. Therefore, a lot of infected users feel that the virus file is genuine file. One way to differentiate the genuine file from the virus file is the location of the file. The original file is generally located in C: Documents directory. However, the rogue versions may be present at a different location somewhere in the Windows file. The suggested way will be to perform a complete scan of your computer for viruses and proceed as required.
