How to monitor usage of my Internet Connection

Hi all,

Internet usage has to be monitored.

I have a 2 Mbps line and have a dlink wireless modem.

What i want is an application or other ways that can tell me how much of internet bandwidth I have used each day.

So I don't cross the available budget each month.

Any help is much appreciated.

Gowri, I think, your best option would be to contact your Internet Provider. That's the people you pay to have your internet connection. They would be the best people to know what to do. I am pretty sure that it is part of your right as a customer that they provide this information to you.

Now, if you don't want to bother those people, especially if they are the type with very poor customer service, or if you don't trust them in the first place, you can try this site. http://www.my-speedtest.com/

If this site does not work for you, there are tons of sites that can provide you with freeware you can download.

Just search for Speed Test" on your search engine.

How to monitor usage of my Internet Connection

Dear Gowri,

To monitor downloads, you will need to install a third party software which will record your usage. I would suggest you use "Broadband Download Monitor" which is a free to download. However, you will need to do a free registration for using this software.

Just download this freeware from the site, install, follow the instructions for registration and make sure every time you are using the internet, the software is running. 

I am giving some snapshots of the software to see if it will serve your purpose.

There are different ways to monitor internet Usage:

 

1. You can login to your account of your internet service provider and you can know your status.

2. Now days many software available to monitor internet usage and you can download and install them.
