I have set my Dlink Router to 150Mbps before connecting it with my laptop. But after connecting, when I checked on the Wireless Network Connection Status, it is showing 65Mbps only. My laptop runs a Windows 7 OS. How to set the speed correctly?

Hello Charlotte Collins,

In case your wireless network connection status is showing only 65 mbps but you are able to surf at faster speeds, then I do not think you should be worried about anything.

But if that bothers you then you can try changing the speeds to 150 mbps from your computer. You will just need to click on the network identity icon and then choose status. When you click status, a properties window for the network will open, and in that window look for the connection speed and change it 150 mbps, which should be the maximum value for your wireless network.

Hope this helps.

This may be caused by your computer's wireless card being unable to reach such a speed limit due to interference or due to settings on the network that may not be compatible with the wireless card. Try changing your router's channel. This will allow you to minimize interference by using a channel that is not used by other networks in your area. This is noticeable when your speed improves after a change. Also enable 20 MHz and 40 MHz channel width. I take it you have an N router and this may be one of the settings. Try and optimize your WLAN card advanced settings as well to make it more compatible and optimize its functions.
