I am trying to access a Windows XP machine on a LAN to load an OpenOffice file. I am using OpenOffice 2.2. I can see the odt file when I try to File > Open.

When i double click on the file I get the following error; "General Internet error has occurred" Internet is running in my computer and I can freely access the internet and send emails.

The Windows XP machine has the folder (within which the above file sits) set to shared.

Please tell me the solution of this problem.

Hi,

Internet error is an unusual error in open office. I think you are installed a version of Microsoft office which is not a full version. Full version of Microsoft windows does not create this type of problem. Try to collect a DVD of Microsoft office 2010 and install from there because it has full version of Microsoft office 2010.

Also you can download it from the internet. Go https://products.office.com/en-in/?legRedir=default&CorrelationId=c06cca6a-00df-4a6c-8e62-37506c2acc76. Here you will find full version of this software. Download it from here and install it. It will take some price.

Other way is to install office 2007 or 2011. I know these versions well. They are similar like 2011 and they will not create this type of problem. You can use it as alternative of open office.
