I am receiving the error message “This device cannot start (Code 10)” while installing Bluetooth RFBUS drivers on my Windows.

The process stuck in the middle stating Bluetooth RFBUS driver does not install.

Please help me resolve the issue.

To resolve that issue you will need to do the following:

  • Right click on My Computer, and then click Properties.
  • Next you will need to choose the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  • The next step will be to double-click the device type that has the problem with the manager, and in this case it is Bluetooth driver. 
  • You will need to right-click the Bluetooth device, and then you will click Properties. That will open the device Properties dialog box, and there you will be able to see the error code in the Device status area of this dialog box.
  • You can then correct the issue from there.

The causes of showing code error are, when Device Manager can’t able to start the hardware device.

This situation may be caused by a corrupted or outdated driver software.

In fact, when that message is shown, it indicates an error in the Device Manager.

It indicates that the Device Manager doesn’t understand the hardware issue or the unspecified driver. 

There are many solutions to this problem.

  1. First, you have to restart the computer. If there are any temporary problems in the Device Manager or with the hardware after restarting the computer, it might fix the Code 10 errors.  
  2. It also may be caused by the recent changes in the Device Manager or a newly-installed device or program just before the error  “This device cannot start (Code 10)” started appearing. So to fix the problem, restart your computer or undo the changes or install before. If the error appears again, you can follow the solution given below.

    • First, reconfigure or remove the recently-installed driver or device.
    • Second, roll back the driver to the previous update.
    • Third, make a system restore to undo recent changes to the Device Manager.
  3. You can reinstall the driver for the specified device.
  4. If the device is a USB device, you have to uninstall every device related under the Universal serial Bus controller’s hardware category in the Device Manager. This is recommended for USB Host Controller, USB Mass Storage Device and USB Root Hub.
  5. The error can also be fixed by installing the latest driver for the device.
  6. You can install the latest Windows Service Pack. It should be Genuine Windows.
  7. You can delete the LowerFilters and UpperFilters in the registry of the Windows registry.
  8. Don’t afraid if the previous solution doesn’t work. It may have been caused other than the Device Manager error. You can test your hardware on another computer. If it does not work, then you can replace the hardware.
  9. Before changing hardware, you have to make sure that your hardware is compatible for the device. To be sure, you should always check the Windows HCL.
  10. If there is no problem with your hardware caused by the Code 10 error, you can repair your Windows system. If it still does not fix the problem, make a clean install of Windows.

If you are installing the Bluetooth driver for a Toshiba laptop or desktop computer, just go to the Toshiba Drivers & Software page to download the driver. Here, enter the model number or serial number of your machine to find your product. You can find the model number or serial number on the side or bottom of your machine.

Once you find it, just enter it in the “Enter model or serial number” search field and click “GO” to find your machine. Once your computer is located, click it on the page and download the Bluetooth driver and install it. Make sure to select your correct operating system before downloading.
