I want to reinstall Windows 8 on my system and my CD/DVD Rom is not working. Can I install this particular OS using a USB? If so, how can I do that?

Install Windows with help of USB

Hi Alex,

Here's the step on how to install Windows 8 using USB 

Plug in formatted USB key into the computer . Boot you computer from USB. This can be done in the BIOS. Normally you enter the BIOS with F1, Delete, Esc or any other key that highlighted on the screen. Press the key that say Boot and make sure that the USB has the priority. If ever that the computer is not booting from the USB just repeat the above procedure.

Hi Alex,

Yes, definitely. You can install your Windows 8 operating system on the USB and that process is called Bootable Windows USB. However, you need to undergo a series of process to be able to create it. The instruction is as follows:

1. Plug in the USB and ensure that the USB is clearly formatted

2. Download .ISO file on the Windows 8 Operating System

3. Download UltraISO and install it

4. Run the software

5. Navigate to the top and click “Bootable”

6. Click “Write Disk Image”

7. Ensure that you specified the right USB and select “Write Method”

8. Ensure that you have selected USB-HDD+

9. Click on “Write” and wait for a couple of minutes until in prompt

10. Click Finish
