I would like to know the purpose of creating linux world map

Hi,

Recently I have seen one thing in the internet, it is called "the Linux world map". I would really like to know the purpose of creating Linux world map. Is it only for fun or it has any important inner meaning. I would like to know the answer.

The great Linux map is a fun endeavor trying to portray the world of the linux desktop as a sort of a typus Terrarum. The map is no way represented in terms of actual market share usage or popularity. It's just a wild endeavor trying to portray the world of the Linux desktop as a sort of a typus Orbis Terrarum. The map is no way represented in terms of actual market share usage or popularity.
