I need Mac webcam manipulation tips

I have an iMac with the quad-core Intel Core i5 3.02 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX graphics and OSx Mountain Lion.  How can I manipulate the camera to be a face recognition-enabled computer login utility and a motion sensor security camera?  I need tips for Mac webcam manipulation.  Thanks.

You can change the settings for the Macbook Pro's built in webcam. Generally Apple apps make the automatically iSight settings and do not allow you to manipulate them from your application.
