0x800408fc error is an Outlook error that occurs when the mail server the user wants to connect to cannot be found on the network. The error commonly occurs when you have specified wrong the mail server in Outlook mail settings. The 0x800408fc error occurs in any version of the Outlook(2003, 2007, 2010, or 2013), and usually is happened suddenly and without changing ant settings in the Outlook program or Network.

The steps to fix the 0x800408fc error are as follows:

• Disable TCP/IPv6 Protocol.

Open the command box and type “ncpa.cpl” and press Enter. Click on Network Adapter and open the Properties. Uncheck the TCPIP/IPv6 checkbox and click on OK.

• Change Mail Server Ports.

Open Outlook and go to File then Account Settings. Now, click on the e-mail account to change the settings. After that, click on More Settings and check the SMTP checkbox. After this, select the Advanced tab and apply the shown settings:

Now restart the Outlook.

• Verify the Mail Server is up and running.
