Hello! I have a new Windows Phone 8 and I have some questions about it. First is, how can I project my phone to another screen? How can I perform a Bluetooth sharing and how do I accept the Term of Use from Xbox so I can download games from them? Or is it really possible? Lastly, what is Word Flow and how can I use it for typing faster?

Hello:

Windows 8 smartphone have some really cool feature within them:

Project your Screen:

You can now project your phone screen without a help of any wireless device, to a laptop or PC with the help of an awesome app “Project My Screen”. Download this to your PC. Now all you need to do is- plug in a USB cable and project away. Things which you need to keep in your mind are that, you can’t use a USB to project content that’s protected by Digital Rights Management. Projecting your phone screen with a USB connection is video only. Audio can be managed through the phone. Steps to project screen:

1. Connect USB cable from your phone to PC (Windows 8 device).

2. Start “Project My Screen” app on your Windows device.

3. Tap Yes when prompted in phone to allow screen projection.

Pairing your phone with a Bluetooth

Bluetooth lets you do lots of things on your Phone, making hands-free calls, sharing files. The accessory or device needs to use a Bluetooth version and profile that will work with your phone. You can pair your phone with the Bluetooth accessory or device by following this steps-

  1. Make sure that the accessory or device to be paired is turned on and in pairing mode/visible mode, so your phone can connect to it.
  2. From the App lists, click Settings<< Bluetooth, turn the Status to On. Your phone will now search for any discoverable Bluetooth devices and become discoverable to other devices near you.
  3. Select the name of the accessory/device that you want to pair with.
  4. If a Pass code (also called a pairing code) is required. Check for the Pairing accessory message box, make sure that both the phone and the accessory or device display the same PIN, then tap OK. It’s paired now, phone will automatically connect to the accessory or device when it's in range and Bluetooth on your phone is turned on.

Things you need to remember is firstly, the Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1 PC must have a Bluetooth wireless adapter installed and secondly, Windows Phone 8 must have software version 8.0.10501.127 or later installed to be able to automatically connect over Bluetooth for internet sharing (tethering).

Setting up Xbox terms of agreement:

“My Family” is the app which you need to turn on to manage game downloads for your kids  on Windows Phone. When you configure and add up a "family" including your child's Microsoft account, you'll be able to choose types of games from Xbox downloads you'd like to allow:

  • For the first time you set up My Family, you'll need to sign in with an email address and password from a guardian's MS account and this will be family's primary parent. This is the only person who can remove the family from Family Safety. Once set, won't be able to change it.
  • After setting up parent account, you'll need to sign in to it with the Microsoft account your child uses to sign in to phone. That will enable your child to download games from the Windows Phone Store. Now as you want your child to be able to download Xbox games, you'll need to go to the Xbox website and accept the Xbox Terms of Use on their behalf. Create Xbox profile for your child's account, if doesn't already have one. Thing you need to keep in mind:

    •  If on your Xbox console you've already accepted the Xbox Terms of Use for your child, you won't need to accept it again.
    • Xbox.com does not allow sign-in by child accounts in all countries.
    • If you've already set up an Xbox profile for your child, you'll need to use that account to accept the Xbox Terms of Use on Xbox.com.

Word Flow:

The Word Flow keyboard enables you drawing a line that connects all the letters of the word you’re trying to write, instead of tapping every single letter. This concept is called ‘shape writing’. It predicts emoji as well. Just start typing a text or email, by gliding your finger over the letters on the keyboard to shape words.  A streak of color will follow your finger to show the path you’re following. Word will appear once you will lift your finger when finished, and the. Space will be added automatically between words shaped.

Hope this will help you.
