I cannot open my HP Quality Center v10 with Internet Explorer 8. Every time I try to access it, an error message prompts “An error occurred while copying file spider10.ocx. Cannot copy file to destination directory.” I noticed that HP Quality Center doesn’t load only in Windows 7 Enterprise, while it works perfectly with XP.

HP Quality Center v10 is a 32-bit application which is designed to work on a 32-bit system as well. You are getting this error on your system that is because you are using the 64-bit version of Windows 7 that’s why it will really not work. But there is another way on how to make it work without replacing your Windows 7 with its 32-bit version.

Since you are using Windows 7 64-bit (even if you did not post it that you are using Windows 7 64-bit, the evidence is clear because of a failing HP Quality Center v10), this version of Windows is actually installed with 2 kinds of Internet Explorer, Internet Explorer (64-bit) and Internet Explorer.

The default version is Internet Explorer (64-bit) and this is the version that always loads. The other one that doesn’t have the 64-bit on it is actually the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer. So generally, Windows 7 64-bit is packaged with 2 versions of Internet Explorer.

Now, to open HP Quality Center v10 use the other version of Internet Explorer (the one without the 64-bit).
