What are the easiest or best ways to open and edit a Ms Word 2007 file (.docx) file in MS Word 2003 without changing the file extension or without converting the file into (.doc) format and which is the most practiced option?

How to open a .docx file in MS Word 2003?

If you have a .docx file in MS Word 2003 and you want to open it on MS Word 2007, here's an advice:

 

First,

you may download a Office Compatibility Pack that lets Word 2003 open and save files in Office Open XML docx format. Here is a link where you can download the compatibility pack:

Download and install this compatibility pack if you would like to open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations that were created in the newer versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

Or,

you may convert your .docx file into a .doc file. It's either you download a file converter or you may simply go here in your browser. Here's the link for you:

Click on the link above or copy and paste it on your URL box on your browser. You may simply browse and upload for your file and convert it.

How to open a .docx file in MS Word 2003?

Hi Rupaark,

I would like to state to you that you can be able to open a document saved  2007 using  word 2003 for only documents saved in .docs and .docm

You cannot be able to use it to open documents with dotx and dotm format

All you need is to have compatibility Pac for word,excel,access and PowerPoint.

This can be downloaded from the internet.

Although you may be able to open some items made using word 2007

These are created by enhancement of word 2007.

Example: Equation become images which one may not be able to change.

Examples of elements that will be changed are Equations,Themes,Theme color ,Theme fonts etc.

How to open a .docx file in MS Word 2003?

Hi Rupaakr,

The following are the methods that can be used to open Docx document using Ms word 2003

1) You may be able to download compatibility pack this will enable you to read the document without converting to doc

2) If you have an already existing file you can use XML translator . this can also be downloaded from the internet.

3) If you are having  your office installed in Macintosh you need to install  Microsoft office open XML file converter.

4) Use of cloud.This is a Google application of reading the document and editing.

5) Try and open office which is a free suite which look like original office.

There is no mostly used method as people use method that suit them most.
