To make a bootable USB device out of a Windows operating system implies that you must make an ISO out of you current Windows installation disk.

For creating an ISO out of your Windows DVD, install the BurnAware Free software and install it. This software will allow you to create an ISO image only if you have the Windows DVD inserted in the DVD-ROM unit.

After creating the ISO image, it must be burned on the bootable device. In your case, it must be burned on the DVD.

For this step, you will need another software called Rufus. Download Rufus and open it. A window will appear similar to this:

First, you must select the device by choosing from the drop down list under the Device menu. Choose your USB drive.

Then, select the format type to be NTFS. After that select the ISO image you created before by clicking on the icon next to the "ISO Image" button.

Then press Start and wait for it to complete. Then reboot and you can use your new bootable Windows USB drive.
