I am using Mozilla Firefox as my default browser on my Windows Vista.

I am having an error saying that I need to install Flash plug-in.

So I clicked on the Install Missing Plug-ins button and follow the onscreen instructions, restarted my Firefox but it is still not installed.

How can I install it manually?

Need help please.

To install the missing plugin, please follow the steps below:

*Note: This procedure will also work on installing any plugin.

  1. Download the plugin file manually. Click on this link.
  2. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
  3. After successfully downloaded the plugin, rename it with .zip extension. Example: flashplayer-win.zip
  4. You can still open the file since the original file type is .xpi file, just double-click it.
  5. Copy flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll from the same directory or into one of two directories. This is depending on if you want to install the plugin for all users or for just one account only.
Flash Players

To install for all users:

  • Locate to this on your Windows Explorer:
  • C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxplugins.
  • If you are running 64-bit Windows Vista, the path will look like this:
  • C:Program Files (x86)Mozilla Firefoxplugins.
  • If you are using a portable version of Firefox, locate the Firefox installation folder and look for the directory for plugins.
  • Paste the two files on the above path. Click Continue if you are prompted by UAC and you are done.
  • Install for one user account:
  • Browse on this path:
  • %APPDATA%Mozilla
Mozilla Appdata

When you are on that path, create a new directory and name it as Plugins then paste the two files above. To verify that the plugin is already loaded, open your Firefox then type about:plugins in the address bar. Or you can also try reloading the page that is not working.
