How to get music beats in a visual basic program?

Hello TechyV users,
I am a programmer by hobby. Today I faced with a problem that I want to make a media player with which I can hear the beats like I can make an equalizer. But I cannot do that due to lack of my knowledge. If you help me how to get music beat visual basic then it will be a great help.

We need to know more information about your request, in which programming language are you coding the media player?
