If a DVD disc is physically damaged then accessing the data it contains is no longer guaranteed. Sometimes it may be readable and there are times it is unreadable and I experience it a lot. This happens if the disc has deep scratches in the surface which physically damages the data it stores and there’s no way you can recover it.

Check the surface of your DVD disc if it has scratches in it. If it is clear or if there are scratches but they are only light, maybe the lens of your DVD drive is only dirty and if this is the case, it only needs a little cleaning. Get a DVD cleaner and insert it on your DVD drive.

You can use the DVD cleaner you used for your DVD player. Once the DVD drive is cleaned, wait for a few minutes before inserting the DVD disc in the tray to let the lens completely dry. Try it again afterwards and see if the disc is now accessible. If still not, try cleaning the surface of the disc.

Sometimes even if the lens is clean but the surface of the disc is not, the computer will still unable to read the disc. Wipe the surface of the DVD disc very lightly with a very soft cloth or a cotton. Make sure it is dry. Try the disc again and see if it is accessible. If the problem continues, it is possible that the disc is physically damaged.

See if the computer can read the disc from time to time then copy the contents to your hard drive to try to save the installers.

Sometime, DVD and similar types of compact disc suffers from minor damages and CD ROM lenses couldn't detect it for enough time to read and copy the stored data. However, you can easily copy data off the problem Disc using CD DVD Recovery software, try the one mentioned below:

It can make your problem disc easily detectable on the software screen by performing complete or deep scan and later, allows you to restore data. However, you may able to see the preview of stored data on the DVD before actual recovery.

P.S. You cannot repair DVD once it's damaged. The only possible remedy is to copy or recover data and make another DVD to keep the data alive in future or store it on various cloud hosting websites for free.
