Unfortunately, iCloud can’t be used for restoring backup if you will only restore a file or several files because it doesn’t work that way. iCloud is used to backup an entire iOS device and restore an iOS device from a backup. But restoring means the whole device not just a single file.

If you are using an iOS device such as an iPhone and you want to restore a deleted file from iCloud, this is possible but the file can only be recovered if it is included in the previous backup. To restore your iOS device from an iCloud backup, in your iOS device, go to Settings, General, and then Software Update.

This checks if there is a new iOS version available so you can update your device first. Updating your device to the latest iOS is required to make sure you can restore from a recent backup of another device. Next, go to Settings, iCloud, Storage & Backup then find Last Backup at the bottom of the screen.

Once verified that you have a recent backup, go to Settings, General, Reset then tap “Erase all content and settings”. In Setup Assistant screen, select “Set up your device”, tap “Restore from a Backup”, and then sign in to iCloud. After that, select “Choose backup” then select from a list of available backups.
