How to extract images from corrupted avi video

I have a corrupted avi file that still has sound but the picture moves frame by frame slowly or sometimes it freezes.  Would downloading a CODEC solve this or are the frames damaged and irreparable?  Can I still extract images corrupted avi video?  I'm on Windows xp 64 bit sp2.  Thanks.

How to extract images from corrupted avi video

Hello Maycle

 

 I understand your problem. Unfortunately you cannot extract the images but  still there is a way to recover the images .

First download hjspilt software and  convert   the  avi  file to flv using options.

Now play the file using vlc  player and press shift+w key together in the image which you want to extract. All images will come out as JPG.
