How does slmgr -rearm work?

I'm currently on Windows 7 and I'm getting a black screen though I'm not on black edition.

'This copy of Windows…Counterfeiting.' I know that this thing is causing the problem. I have purchased the CD from a local vendor. 

I have heard that slmgr -rearm will fix my problem but I don't know if it is legal. On the other hand, I have bought the OS and it is not working as expected.

Hello,

Your Windows isn’t bought from Microsoft and Microsoft doesn’t sell Windows 7 anymore and so, you have to get Windows 8.1 from Microsoft directly.

You have purchased the disc from a local vendor. They aren’t authorized Microsoft dealers to sell OS. Windows 7 is discontinued since March, 2015 and Microsoft is providing Windows 8.1 sell only.

Using any crack is strongly not recommended, and your OS will crash potentially and Microsoft will blacklist you. So, go to your nearest Microsoft shop and buy Windows 8.1. You can also buy it online.
