I’ve Windows Server 2008 R2 installed and when I was trying to install a third party software I faced a problem stating that my server 2008 r2 key is missing. I was wondering how this happened? What could be done to rectify this problem?

In the Windows OSs as well as Windows Server 2008 R2 you can be able to perform a full installation of an operating system without the need to manually enter a product key like it was done in the previous Microsoft operating systems.

That makes that installation very easy, and though Windows Server 2008 RTM as well as Windows Vista seem to be "polite" about asking for the key, when it comes to Windows Server 2008 R2 as well as Windows 7 you do not need to have the key handy during the installation process. The key can be found in a file known as PRODUCTS.INI, in the installation DVD, in the SOURCES folder.
