Hi guys.  I just purchased a used Dlink DI-LB604 with 4 10/100 Mbps ports, IEEE 802.3i 10Base-T Ethernet and MAC filtering.  I try to connect to the internet but the router is asking for a password.  How do I access D link router configuration settings?

Hi Doriswneil, accessing your router's settings is not that hard at all, you just need to input the ip address on your computer's browser and if you still have the box with your modem you should have the security key or the password. If it is brand new you may only type admin as the password. In cases where it is not, you would refer to the previous owner's setup. By the way, did you access 192.168.0.1 to get inside your router's settings? If not, try it first.

Hi Doriswneil,

If this is a used router then there’s a big possibility that a lot of changes have been made including the DHCP setting on this router. I brought up DHCP because this is your key to access your Routers Setting. If you want to start fresh with this router then I would suggest that you reset the router to its default settings so that you can manage the router from scratch. Here’s how you reset the router manually.

  1. Locate the reset button at the back of the router.
  2. Press and hold down the button for about 10 seconds then release.
  3. The router will restart and this will take a couple of minutes.

After the reboot, connect your computer to the router using a LAN (RJ45) cable. This time you can then configure the router with all the settings you want. When your computer is connected to the router it should obtain an IP address. Check steps below to check the IP.

  1. Click Windows Start button
  2. Look for “Run”
  3. From the textbox type CMD. This will open the command prompt.
  4. From the command prompt type “ipconfig”
  5. Look for a “Default Gateway”. Default (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)

After you acquire the default gateway info open a browser and from the address bar type the Default Gateway address. This should ask for a username and a password.

Username: admin (default)

Password: leave the field blank

Hope this helps!
