The mostly occurred balloon is:

There are unused icons on your desktop.

The desktop cleanup wizard can help you clean up your desktop. Click this balloon to start the wizard.

When I Click on the balloon it starts cleaning my desktop and takes all unused icons on my desktop and put it in a folder.

Then I restart the system but after a restart the balloon shows again. Even I have no more files on my desktop that balloon still appears.

Kindly help me how to get rid of it.

I know that to most people, popup balloons on their taskbar may be sometimes annoying or may be too un useful with others. Especially when you are in a rush to do something more important than hitting the balloon first . But this is one feature from Windows that is also helpful in some ways. This help you keep track on all your icons on your desktop and remove the recently unused icons. To disable or hide this on your Windows XP, please go through the steps below.

  1. Click Start button then hit Control Panel.
  2. Click on Appearance and Themes
  3. Click Display, then under Desktop tab click on Customize Desktop button below
  4. The desktop items window will open uncheck the Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 Days.
  5. You will not be able to see the warning again.

Alternatively, you can also right-click anywhere on your desktop then click Properties to open the Display Properties window.

To make the balloon active again, just do the same steps from 1 to 3 then check the Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 Days again.

The desktop cleanup wizard is in Windows XP and by default it runs after every 60 days. After 60 days of your first desktop clean up, it will show very annoying Balloon on the tray to cleanup your desktop. But don’t worry you can get rid of it. Windows XP has the option to turn off this automated wizard so it will not show again. You can resolve this problem by following instructions:

Here’s what the popup balloon looks like.

  • Right click on your desktop (at any free space) go click on “Properties” option.
  • A window will appear, select the “Desktop”.
  • Then click the “Customize Desktop” button.
  • Now the Desktop Items window will open. You can see at the bottom of the window “Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days” de-select the check box.
  • And then click the “OK”.

Now Window XP will not show you again that annoying pop up after every 60 days. I hope it will solve your problem

Windows popping up a balloon notification will not annoy you more. I have the solution of this problem. Very easily & quickly you can disable it completely.  You only have to do some modification in the registry. But before will this make sure you have a backup of the registry, If you don’t have them made a backup. By doing the following steps you will disable all balloon notifications:

  • Click on Start and type regedit in Run and press enter
  • Now it will show you this path in your registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced

  • Right click on Right (plane) panel and choose New DWORD Value
  • You will see New Value #1.  Change this to EnableBalloonTips.
  • Next double click the new registry entry you created. In the Value Data field set it to 0 (zero).  Make sure Hexadecimal is selected under Base and click OK.

Now finally restart your system, definitely it will not show you that pop up notification again. If you want to remove this modified registry, it has very justly gone to the registry and delete your created registry key.
