Greeting Connard,

The error could be a system damage, or a physical damage, so what you should do is to make a test to know whether is soft or a hard error,LPT Port Test Utility i386 can handle this kind of tests, after you download the tool,

This is the Utility main interface, it's very is to use, just connect it with your lpt Port and see how it works.

But this was just for physically test, this is another software for both tests,

Download for XP/Vista/Seven

No software installation is included with this distribution. Simply extract the files from the zip archive using software that supports the Zip format, and put them in a directory of your choice.

This ensures that no file will not be installed somewhere other than where you want (Windows or Windows System directory), simplifying the uninstall process possible, because you can just simply delete that directory .

The parallel port is embedded to the motherboard, so be careful if the port is physically damaged you should replace all the motherboard .
