How can I convert video from avi to wmv format?

I have downloaded an original animation video (OAV) that is in avi format. I desire to have it in wmv format for view on Zune. As I try to convert it the following error message returns: ‘Cannot open the file’. Does anyone have an idea on how I can achieve the conversion? Your assistance is highly needed.

How can I convert video from avi to wmv format?

To convert video from avi to wmv formats, you need to use a video conversion program. One that seems very highly-rated is the Prism Video Converter, available here: http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html

It works on works on Windows 7 XP/Vista or Mac OS 10.4 or later. A highly-rated free option is Freemake Video Converter, available here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/fmvideocon.html .

That one is only for Windows 7/XP/vista. If you use Ubuntu or some other Linux variant, you should be able to find one by searching “Video Converter” in Synaptic. Have fun, and enjoy your video!

The Audio Video Interleave(AVI) is a higher end video format developed by Microsoft.

The Windows Media Video(WMV) file format is supported on a greater number of software platforms and saves disk space. 

Steps to Convert AVI to WMV Using MediaConverter:

 

 

Step1: Open the web browser and go to MediaConverter.org website.

Step2: Click the “Upload a File” menu link located approximately half-way down the web page.

Step3: Select the “Choose File” menu button and use the website’s file chooser to pick the AVI file to convert to WMV format.

Step4: Choose “WMV” as the output video format for the file conversion.

Step5: Select the “Start” menu button to initiate the file conversion process.

Step6: After file conversion is completed, select the “Download Link” to download the converted file to your computer.
