I am starting a business of my own that will include a technical support department. I know it is customary to call it a ‘help desk’, but that sounds very demeaning for the people working there. Can I please get some alternatives as to other names for help desk?

It is understandable not to want to call your technical support department a help desk. There are several alternatives that are being used by different organizations today. You can consider the following suggestions.

           • Customer Support.

           • Customer Assistance.

           • Technical Aid.

           • Guest Relations.

           • Customer Relations.

           • Technical Support.

Simply try to focus on the customer. They are the most important entity in the context of a technical support department. Depending on the specific nature of your business you may use idiosyncratic terms as well. Make it sound reassuring for the customer.
