I want to partition my hard drive but facing a problem with formatting. The problem is that when I tried to make partition it does not allow me saying that "Some files may be damaged or engaged Please connect microsoft for more help". If anyone knows about this problem help me.

I guess you are doing the partitioning on the same drive where Microsoft Windows is installed. This is not possible because the operating system has many open files that can get damage unless the drive already contains another partition. But if the physical hard drive where Windows is installed has only 1 partition, you may have a hard time creating a new partition within Windows.

Before you can create another partition on a drive with only 1 partition, you need first to resize the partition to make room for another partition. To properly and successfully resize the partition, download and install EaseUS Partition Master Free 10.1. This is an alternative to Partition Magic which only works on Windows XP.

This is a free disk partition management tool that allows you to extend or resize the system drive or drive C. It supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. Once drive C is resized, create a new partition on the resulting raw space and then format it.
