I used to download some avi’s in the computer, after working I used to delete them. While doing this work I got this error last night. Can anyone help me to solve this error? Help me to get rid of this error. Your help is great. Thanks in advance.
Error: can’t open file: The media type of this file is not recognized.
If you are on the habit of downloading different AVI files and this error appears when you tried opening one, you should check if the file has been completely downloaded. Though the file is obviously an AVI file but the computer doesn’t seem to understand its format, this problem is sometimes caused by an incomplete download or a damaged file.
If the file is a download, you may try downloading it again. If in case the AVI file is big and you want to split or divide it using your file splitter, if you see this error then it is possible that the file is really damaged. Splitting a file into two or more smaller files works on any file formats. So, if you see this the file is maybe damaged if not incomplete.
If you are sure that the file is playable in any media player, try converting it to another format and then split it again.
